Kirk C. Coombs and James W. McConkie III Named Equity Shareholders, Charles A. Meeker Advances to Non-Equity Shareholder at Workman Nydegger

SALT LAKE CITY, JANUARY 29, 2019 – Workman Nydegger is pleased to announce the promotion of Kirk C. Coombs and James W. McConkie III to Equity Shareholders and Charles A. Meeker, Ph.D. to Non-Equity Shareholder.

Mr. Coombs specializes in software and computer engineering technology. He practices law with Workman Nydegger’s patent preparation and prosecution group, where he brings the experience and knowledge gained in his previous career as a Linux support engineer at Novell. Mr. Coombs is well-versed in hardware systems, systems architectures, operating systems, cloud computing technologies, programming, web technologies, and other tech-focused subjects.

Mr. McConkie’s practice involves general civil and commercial litigation, with special emphasis in contract or business disputes, employment, trademark and unfair business practice matters.  Mr. McConkie has experience in complex and class action litigation, having played a key role in two Federal Receiverships and a successful nationwide lawsuit against a Fortune 500 company.

Dr. Meeker holds advanced degrees and training in biochemistry/molecular biology/oncological sciences, which help him understand the unique challenges of IP prosecution in these and other fields. He regularly counsels clients in the U.S. and overseas on the procurement and protection of intellectual property rights, including patents, trademarks, trade dress, trade secrets, and copyrights. With an ability to speak and understand the Korean language and culture, Dr. Meeker has assisted his Korean clients with navigating the U.S. patent system. Dr. Meeker has worked on patents for pharmaceutical drugs and drug delivery systems, chemical compositions and systems, plant science and cell culture technology, PCR technologies and DNA melting curve analysis, fluorescence and luminescence imaging and monitoring, pathology diagnostic equipment and methods, hydrocarbon purification and treatment systems, liquid filtration materials and systems, and a variety of other products, systems, and methods.
