Timothy D. Nichols

A former engineer and federal law clerk, Tim Nichols has a breadth of experience assisting clients with complex patent, trademark, and copyright matters under federal and international laws.

Tim regularly advises clients on how to obtain, enforce, and license various intellectual property assets and represents clients across a broad range of industries, including consumer products, industrial machining, automotive, medical, renewable energy, and mining. As part of his practice, Tim also guides clients through the intricate nuances of online marketplaces to better manage, protect, and extract revenue from their intellectual property.

Consistently recognized as a top intellectual property lawyer by several publications, Tim also teaches as an adjunct professor at the S.J. Quinney College of Law and served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Dee V. Benson (2009-2010) at the U.S. District Court for the District of Utah
