J. LaVar  Oldham

With an electrical engineering background and over two decades of experience, LaVar Oldham is an IP prosecutor engaged in helping clients create and manage intellectual property. With extensive experience in various industries including computer systems, IT, encryption, circuit design, fiber optics, complex communication systems, control systems, analog and digital signal processing, nightvision systems, content publishing, and various mechanical systems, LaVar assists clients with the preparation and prosecution of patents, and with procuring and protecting copyrights and trademarks.

He enjoys the process of meeting with inventors to identify subject matter for patent applications and working with clients to prepare application drafting and prosecution strategies. He is also directly engaged with the subsequent prosecution of applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

As an engineer with Underwriter’s Laboratories previous to becoming a lawyer, LaVar has a strong understanding of his clients’ businesses, their challenges and how to get results.
