Three Workman Nydegger Attorneys Recognized as Salt Lake City’s “Lawyer of the Year” by Best Lawyers

Workman Nydegger Attorneys John Stringham, David Todd, and Thomas Vuksinick have been recognized as Salt Lake City’s “Lawyer of the Year” in the areas of Copyright Law (Stringham),  Litigation in Intellectual Property (Vuksinick), and Patent Law (Todd) by Best Lawyers. Best Lawyers bestows this honor upon only one lawyer in each practice area and community. This recognition underscores each attorneys exceptional expertise and standing within the legal community.

John C. Stringham is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and is admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court, the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Utah Supreme Court. His practice includes all facets of intellectual property law with an emphasis on the preparation and prosecution of patent, trademark, and copyright applications in the U.S. and foreign countries. Mr. Stringham also engages in the preparation of licensing, publishing, and other agreements related to intellectual property as well as opinions regarding infringement, validity, and availability of patents, trademarks, and copyrights. He also engages in inter partes proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and due diligence investigations regarding intellectual property portfolios. Mr. Stringham’s practice has included experience with a number of technologies including computer software/internet, business methods, medical device and biomedical technologies, and general mechanical systems. Mr. Stringham has worked with multiple companies from start-up through billion dollar valuations and has been intimately involved in developing IP strategy and associated portfolios for those companies. He has worked with numerous companies through IPO and after.

David R. Todd’s practice focuses on intellectual property litigation, including patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret litigation, and on client counseling matters requiring expertise in intellectual property law, including analyses of patent infringement and validity. He has participated as counsel in over 40 appeals at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and in a number of intellectual property actions in federal trial courts and at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. Mr. Todd served from 1997-1998 as a law clerk to the Honorable Randall R. Rader at the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, which resolves patent appeals from all U.S. district courts as well as all appeals from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Mr. Todd has participated in authoring a number of publications on patent law issues, has lectured on intellectual property issues, and currently serves as an adjunct professor of law at Brigham Young University where he has taught courses in patent law and intellectual property litigation. He has also served as an author of amicus briefs filed on behalf of the American Intellectual Property Law Association in cases pending before the United States Supreme Court and the Federal Circuit.

As a senior member of the litigation group, Thomas R. Vuksinick’s vast experience as a litigator in major patent and IP disputes enables him to successfully advise clients in matters of unfair competition claims, patent and trademark infringement, false advertising, and employer/employee relations, including non-compete covenants. Mr. Vuksinick is also involved in negotiating and preparing intellectual property license agreements, opinions relating to patent infringement, non-infringement, and patent validity.
