International Prosecution of IP

As intellectual property continues to move to the forefront on an international as well as domestic level, W|N is fortunate to enjoy an extensive network of IP law firms located in virtually all developed and many developing countries. W|N handles some 5,000 pending U.S. patents, 4,000 foreign pending patents in over 70 foreign countries, and over 1,000 trademark applications in 85 countries worldwide. Many of our attorneys have lived overseas and are fluent in second languages like French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Swedish, Russian and Japanese.

W|N also represents a large number of overseas clients before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. These foreign clients include major corporations and IP law firms and agents in other countries who seek our assistance in prosecuting patent and trademark applications at the USPTO.

We also have a growing IP licensing, enforcement, and litigation practice in countries outside of the United States. Our attorneys have overseen and managed IP litigation, inter partes conflict matters such as patent and trademark oppositions before various patent and trademark agencies, and licensing efforts in established and emerging markets in Europe, China, Japan, Korea, Canada, Australia, Latin America and other areas of the world.

In 2004 W|N was honored with a prestigious “best in field” nomination for its work in coordinating foreign patent enforcement actions in Europe by the legal trade journal Managing Intellectual Property. And in 2002 W|N was named one of the top ten plaintiffs’ litigation firms by IP Worldwide.
