Jonathan W. Richards Elected Managing Partner at Workman Nydegger

Shareholders at Workman Nydegger elected patent attorney Jon Richards to the position of managing partner. Richards served as the firm’s president and managing shareholder from 1996 – 2003, and also served as a member of the board of directors for several years since 2003.

Recognized among the top eight patent prosecutors in Utah by Intellectual Asset Management, Richards, who previously worked at a firm in Dallas, graduated from Southern Methodist University School of Law, order of the coif. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering. Richards works with business executives and in-house counsel to identify and protect key innovations and technologies through careful selection of U.S. and foreign IP protection strategies. He frequently handles and manages the preparation of formal legal opinions on a variety of issues including patent validity, infringement, and non-infringement and design around strategies.

“I’m looking forward to taking the firm’s team of capable attorneys into the new year with a sharper focus on adding value for existing clients,” said Richards. “We will also be concentrating on adding local and regional businesses and entrepreneurs to our client base that has become heavily weighted with international companies.”
