Jaimie R. Anderson, Ph.D.

Dr. Jamie Anderson is a licensed attorney practicing in the firm’s patent prosecution group.

Dr. Anderson’s practice is focused on providing intellectual property counseling aligned with specific business objectives of the client. She has experience working with clients in leveraging intellectual property for competitive advantage, building commercially relevant patent portfolios, and navigating prior art and third party-intellectual property rights. Jaimie’s practice includes worldwide patent and trademark portfolio development, intellectual property due diligence, patent infringement and validity analyses, patentability and product clearance studies, licensing and related transactional matters, and IP litigation.


Dr. Anderson frequently works with clients in the chemical and life sciences industry, including venture fund and early-stage biotechnology clients. Representative fields of research and development for clients include organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, material science, surfactants, molecular biology, biochemistry, biomaterials, biofuels, pharmaceuticals, pharmaceutical delivery systems, nucleic acid design synthesis and sequencing, tissue engineering, immunotherapy, protein chemistry, protein synthesis and purification, diagnostic assays, cardiac stent devices/systems and other medical/dental devices.

Dr. Anderson received her J.D. at Emory University School of Law receiving the ABA/BNA Award of Excellence in Intellectual Property Law. Jaimie received her undergraduate training in Chemistry and Biochemistry at Georgia Institute of Technology, receiving Highest Honors, and her doctoral training in Chemistry at Emory University Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. Her graduate research involved collaboration with the Emory University School of Medicine, Cardiology Department to genetically engineer, synthesize and purify an elastin biomaterial for use as artificial vascular tissue, cardiac stents and medical device coatings. Jaimie’s work included developing a method employing atomic force microscopy to determine the nanomechanical properties of single molecules of this biomimetic material. Other graduate projects included the genetic engineering, synthesis and purification of a bioadhesive material for use on wet mammalian tissue.

Dr. Anderson served as a post-doctoral fellow medical research scientist at the Lowance Center for Human Immunology at the Emory University School of Medicine. Jaimie’s work included leading a team of physicians and scientists in the search for a therapeutic treatment for rheumatoid arthritis.

Dr. Anderson has published her research in a variety of peer-reviewed journals.
